Junior Leadership Aiken County The Board of Directors of Leadership Aiken County initiated the Junior Leadership Aiken (JLA) program in 1995 as a way to reach out to and challenge members of Aiken's future leaders. Consisting of partnerships with both public and private schools throughout the county, JLA consists of approximately 25 ninth graders who complete a shorter version of the LAC curriculum. The program is also available to student who participate in home school. Session dates for JLA coincide with the closed dates for Aiken public schools. The program kicks off with an opening reception, followed by a retreat/ropes course and four class sessions. The year concludes with a graduation ceremony.
